I began swimming at the age of 6 for Nall Hills CC and finished my summer swimming at BCC. I also swam in high school for SMSouth. I was also very competitive in tennis.
During my college summers I coached with Coach Bove at BCC - the early 1980s. After 26 years of pharmaceutical sales, I returned to my passion of coaching and working with kids. This will be my 6th year as Head Coach. I also coach for a local team, the SMWest Boys team, and the SMSouth girls team. I believe that stroke technique, hard work, and fun are key ingredients to a great season.
I have been coaching diving almost nonstop for 47 years. My experience has included coaching city teams, Mo-Kan league, country club and high school. I have worked with both boys and girls and all ages from 6-18. In fact, I even coached an adult diving team in Orlando, Fla.
The bottom line, I LOVE DIVING and LOVE working with kids! Seeing what they can accomplish on the board but more importantly, seeing what kind of person they can become off the board is why I coach. Diving builds character and helps kids gain confidence. Both will carry them far in any “sport” they peruse and in all life situations. It makes me proud to say I have been involved in such a great sport for so many years.
